Rep. Castro blames Trump for COVID-19 deaths

Amid the Coronavirus pandemic, election season in the U.S. is still in the back of the minds of most Americans, and some House Democrats are pushing their political agenda, regardless of the spreading disease that has all but crippled the nation.

Texas Congressman Joaquin Castro (D) appeared on MSNBC’s Joy Reid “AM Joy” Show to rip on President Donald Trump’s over his response to the pandemic.

Rep. Castro said that the Trump administration “should have known exactly what was going on” in respect to the spreading virus, and just about blamed the spread of the  COVID-19 disease on Trump.

Castro then said that Americans have “needlessly suffered and died because of the lack of preparation” by the president.

Here is his full statement:

“Yeah, I mean, not only was it in the news by that point, it had started to be in the news, but you know, I’m on the Intelligence Committee so it’s hard to speak about those classified briefings. But I will say that, based on everything that I’ve seen, they should have known exactly what was going on, should have prepared better for it and should have established the infrastructure early on to deal with it. The president didn’t do any of that and here we are now.”

“People have needlessly suffered and died because of a lack of preparation by the president of the United States and his administration, and this administration, unfortunately, continues for the most part to bungle this response,” added Castro.
