There is very little doubt in the minds of most Americans that Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D) is the most socialist-minded member of the U.S. House of Representatives, but if Texas Democrat Mike Siegel were to win his congressional race later this year, well, he would dethrone AOC as the most socialist member of the House.
Siegel checks off all the boxes for Democrats this year. He supports Medicare for All, defunding police, wealth redistribution, gun control, and the Green New Deal.
But for Siegel to get to Congress, he must first defeat Congressman Michael McCaul (R), who has already been pointing to Siegel’s “radical ideas” and socialist policies.”
Siegel doesn’t try to hide his ideology, and McCaul appears all to willing to help Texans understand Siegel’s support for the “far-left” and “socialist agenda” that Sens. Bernie Sanders and Elizabeth Warren and Speaker Nancy Pelosi prescribe to.
In the campaign press release that accompanied his video about Siegel, McCaul’s campaign outlines their belief that Siegel’s support for policies like open borders, Medicare for All, and the Green New Deal, would be destructive for Texans and all Americans.
“Mike Siegel pretends to speak for Texas families, but his extreme agenda would attack the very policies that have led to the prosperity and quality of life Texans presently enjoy. Siegel supports a government takeover of healthcare, even though it would completely eliminate the employer-based insurance for millions of Americans. Siegel supports open border policies that harm American workers by giving their jobs to illegal immigrants, and Siegel opposes deportation of violent, criminal illegal immigrants.
Siegel supports the radical Green New Deal that would declare war on the Texas oil and gas industries at a time when they are being crushed by the global pandemic. Siegel’s attack on Texas energy would eradicate tens of thousands of Texas jobs.
Siegel would raise taxes on hardworking families across Texas to pay for his massive spending. And Mike Siegel’s first vote would be to make Nancy Pelosi the Speaker, and every other vote would be in lockstep with AOC and the socialists.”
Siegel’s website reads like the Bernie Sanders presidential playbook and contrasts his policies with those of McCaul’s, including the congressman’s support to “repeal the Affordable Care Act.” Siegel’s support for the Green New Deal reads like he actually wrote the language for the controversial and expensive environmental piece of legislation.
While Seigel’s policies are problematic, his support for the oppressive and murderous ways of Che Guevara and the late Communist dictator Fidel Castro could be the straw that broke the political camel’s back
Seigel praised his parent and the two revolutionaries and actually compared mom and dad to Che and Fidel.
“If I had to describe my parents as political figures, I would borrow from the Cuban Revolution, and I would say in our family my mom’s the Che and my dad’s the Fidel,” Siegel said. “But, I want to say that I’m here as a proud red diaper baby and also as a proud second-generation National Lawyers Guild member.”
“Some of you may remember when the state took over our local school district in Oakland and we fought for local control and that was when I got to do time with my mom,” Siegel said. “Six of us took over the state administrator’s office at the Oakland headquarters and you know we did a few hours in jail and then my dad picked us up and we went to Mexicali Rose. That was a great night.”
