President Donald Trump has just signed an Executive Order to mandate that all U.S.-made COVID-19 vaccines be distributed to Americans first before they are offered to the international community.
President Trump’s order states that Departement of Health and Human Resources Secretary Alex Azar via Operation Warp Speed, team up with the Acting Secretary of Defense Christopher Miller, to “ensure safe and effective COVID-19 vaccines are available to the American people, coordinating with public and private entities — including State, territorial, and tribal governments, where appropriate -— to enable the timely distribution of such vaccines.”“It is the policy of the United States to ensure Americans have priority access to free, safe, and effective COVID-19 vaccines,” stated Trump. “After ensuring the ability to meet the vaccination needs of the American people, it is in the interest of the United States to facilitate international access to United States Government COVID-19 Vaccines.”
According to the edict, after it is determined that the vaccine supply is available for “all Americans who choose to be vaccinated,” will the government then offers the vaccine(s)to the international community.
Texas Senator Ted Cruz along with many other Texas Republicans, have expressed their support for the president's American First for a vaccine Executive Order.
