Democratic Socialist Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is famous for making outrageous political statements, but the tweet she sent out about Texas Senator Ted Cruz (R) is nothing less than irresponsible, conspiratorial, and just plain stupid.
In response to Sen. Cruz tweeting an "I fully agree" statement regarding her take on the Robinhood stock market scandal, Rep. Ocasio-Cortez accused Cruz of "almost" having her "murdered" during the Capitol riot. Ocasio-Cortez added that she had no problem working with a Republican legislator the wasn't to get her killed.
"I am happy to work with Republicans on this issue where there’s common ground, but you almost had me murdered 3 weeks ago so you can sit this one out," tweeted Ocasio-Cortez. "Happy to work w/ almost any other GOP that aren’t trying to get me killed. In the meantime if you want to help, you can resign."
In response to the sophomore congresswoman's immature and irresponsible ranting for attention, Cruz told stated to The Hill newspaper:
"You know, there's a lot of partisan anger and rage on the Democratic side. It's, it's not healthy for our country, it's certainly not conducive of healing or unity, but everyone has to decide how they want to interact with others."
During the Capitol riot that took place on January 6th, I was covering the proceedings from inside the House chamber as rioters began to try to break in. From our vantage point within the room, Rep. Ocasio-Cortez not on the floor. The choke point or staging area where members of Congress were held under tight security, and only members and staffers were allowed to stay in that room.
Ocasio-Cortez was safe.
