Detention Facility Receives Complaints of Child Sex Abuse

Criticism against President Joe Biden (D) continues to mount as neither the President nor Vice President Kamala Harris (D) has visited the border to survey recent surges in migration. This comes after the Biden administration announced that it planned to resume building of the Wall and after it had announced that a new detention facility would be built in the Lone State state. A detention facility in San Antonio, Texas has seen migrants triple in less than two weeks, and now state and federal agencies are receiving complaints that abuse is taking place.

The Freeman Expo Center received 500 male children between the ages of 13 and 17 on March 29. Since then, the number has risen to 1,370.

In response to the abuse, Texas Governor Greg Abbott (R) has called on the Biden administration to shut down the facility after a number of complaints were directed to both the Department of Health and Human Services and the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services.

Abbott called the facility “a health and safety nightmare,” adding that “the Biden administration is now presiding over the abuse of children.”

Earlier this month, a number of Republican lawmakers visited the Rio Grande Valley along the U.S. southern border with Mexico. Rep. Brian Babin (R) commented that the Biden administration was “warned by law enforcement that if they rescinded Trump’s immigration policies, a bad crisis could occur.”

Rep. Michael Burgess (R) echoed in his remarks, adding that the “situation is not new, but what is new is how fast it’s gotten this bad.”

However, Rep. Joaquin Castro (D) slammed Governor Abbott for his comments, expressing that “migrant children are not political props and must be protected while seeking asylum.”

Saying that the Governor “turned a blind eye to the Trump administration’s grave human rights abuses at the border,” Castro asserted that “if these serious allegations are true,” then Abbott “has the responsibility to put forward the evidence.”
