Crenshaw: 'We Need to Start Isolating China Economically'

With the “China virus” or COVID-19 virus almost certain to have come out of the lab in Wuhan, China, American legislators like Texas Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R) are now coming forward and pushing legislation to investigate the virus' true Asian origins, and to seek compensation for Americans who will eventually file suit against the Communist Chinese regime in Beijing. Rep. Crenshaw wants Biden to start "isolating China economically."

This week, members of Congress have file legislation to take on China over the COVID-19 virus, but the measure was first introduced by Rep. Crenshaw and Senator Tom Cotton (R) in April 2020.

Appearing on the Fox News Channel, Rep. Crenshaw said that China has been lying and that when he introduced the measure a year ago, he was called a “tin foil hat wearer” for pushing such perceived outrageous accusations against the Chinese government.

“They have been lying about this for a long time and take the most plausible scenario for the origins of the virus was always a lab leak, and you know a year ago when we were saying this everybody was saying you are tin foil hat wearer,” said Rep. Crenshaw.

Crenshaw continued, saying that “They said it couldn't be true. Fauci said it couldn't be true. Members of Congress have come to the party now you know this bill, that allows Americans to sue China and removes foreign sovereignty from China in order to do that, I introduced that bill over a year ago, back in April. Senator cotton introduced in the Senate, we worked very closely to make sure that the legal language was correct.

But even though the focus should be to hold China accountable for the pandemic, Crenshaw points out that the U.S. government and private businesses need to disengage and isolate the Chinese regime economically.

Crenshaw believes that the U.S. needs to “completely rethink how our supply chains work we need to make sure that we're, we're conducting relationships and trade and manufacturing with other countries around China,” adding, “we need to start isolating China economically and that needs to be the whole of government approach in a whole of private industry approach, and it needs to happen fast.”

Crenshaw then threw an indirect jab at the Biden administration's soft foreign policy position against China, saying that America really needed to rethink appeasing the Chinese and come to terms with the fact that the U.S. is engaged in an “economic Cold War” with them.

“I think we just did a paradigm shift in America about who China really is and I don't want to use the term Cold War, but were at least in an economic Cold War with them,” concluded Crenshaw.
