With the highly contagious COVID-19 Delta variant spreading across Texas and around the U.S., President Joe Biden is urging Americans to get vaccinated but is ignoring a request by Texas Rep. Pete Sessions (R) to review and consider a new COVID treatment drug that would dramatically improve the health of those infected with milder cases of the virus.
On July 19, 2021, Rep. Sessions (pictured) sent a letter to the Federal Drug Administration’s Associate Commissioner Andy Tantillo as a follow-up to a conversation the two men had, sending him findings of the Romark Corporation’s NT-300 COVID drug.
In the letter, Sessions told Commissioner Tantillo that he believes the drug treatment “could be an exciting and substantial improvement in the lives of many of those with COVID.”
Sessions’ letter and hope the treatment will be used appears to have fallen of deaf ears and is being ignored, as the Biden administration has not addressed the congressman’s
“COVID-19 continues to disrupt the lives of Americans," stated Rep. Sessions in a statement to Texas Politics. " The FDA should pursue all possible medical options to combat this virus. The Biden administration’s failure to respond to this letter is regrettable.”
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) changed its course this past week when they announced that they would like vaccinated individuals to once again start wearing masks indoors in areas of the country where the virus appears to be surging.
Just yesterday, Speaker Nancy Pelosi ordered Capitol Police to arrest staff and visitors not wearing masks on the House side of the Capitol building. Earlier in the week, Rep. Pat Fallon (R) told Texas Politics that he would rather pay the fines imposed on him for not wearing the mask on the floor of the House than wear the mask.
"We’re regressing. This is political. It’s fear, it’s not science. If you follow Science, in that chamber, we shouldn’t be wearing masks,” said Fallon. “I’m paying the fines, I’m not wearing the damn mask.”
