border crisis
Texas Governor Greg Abbott (R- TX) and Rep. Mike Waltz (R- FL), like most Republican lawmakers, have shared dissatisfaction over the Biden Administration's handling of the ongoing border crisis. Both Gov. Abbott and Rep. Waltz want President Biden to take a harder stance on the Mexican cartels.
Over the weekend, Rep. Waltz appeared on Fox Business News with Maria Bartiromo and discussed how "the Mexican cartels are running our border."
In the interview Waltz explains his plan "to authorize the use of U.S. military forces." This would include cyber drones, intelligent assets, and naval assets.
In addition, Abbott wrote a letter to Biden stating he has failed to faithfully execute immigration federal laws.
“Today, I met with President Biden during his first visit to the border. I hand-delivered a letter asking him to do his constitutional duty to secure our border and keep Texans - and Americans - safe," tweeted Abbott.
In the letter, Abbott calls Biden’s visit “$20 billion too little and two years too late.” Abbot claims the delay was caused by the his administration shielding him from the border situation.
“This chaos is the result of your failure to enforce the immigration laws that Congress enacted,” Abbott writes.
Abbott's letter focuses on enforcing “the implementation of the Remains-in- Mexico policy and Title 42 expulsions.” He advises Biden to “prosecute illegal entry between ports of entry, and allow ICE to remove illegal immigrants."
Abbott claims Biden must “resume construction of the border wall in the State of Texas."
Furthermore, Abbott labels the Mexican drug cartels as "foreign terrorist organizations."
Regarding, Waltz and Abbott's concerns and what they suggest, Biden shared a tweet about his administration.
“My Administration is using the tools available to limit legal migration, expand legal pathways to immigration, and increase security. The approach we're taking is based on a model we know works,” stated President Biden.
