Rep. Castro Pushes For More Funding For Eco-Friendly Projects

Texas Representative Joaquin Castro (D) recently pushed for more funding that would go toward eco-friendly projects.

“Today, I led the full Texas Democratic Congressional delegation in a letter urging @SecGranholm to prioritize federal funding for Texas hydrogen energy projects that create good-paying union jobs,” tweeted Rep. Castro.

“Clean energy should mean good jobs.”

In a statement, Rep. Castro stated his appreciation for the labor force and work done by the Biden Administration.

“As Members of Congress who stand united with workers, we applaud President Biden for making it clear that positive collaboration with labor organizations strengthens the American economy.”

In addition to Congressman Castro, the letter is signed by Reps. Veronica Escobar (TX-16), Lizzie Fletcher (TX-07), Sylvia Garcia (TX-29), Vicente Gonzalez (TX-34), Al Green (TX-09), Sheila Jackson Lee (TX-18) and several others.

“That is why we believe the Department of Energy should ensure that the federal investments made through the H2Hubs program will include concrete labor standard commitments to support the Texan workforce,” wrote the Texas representatives.

The representatives expressed their intention to President Joe Biden’s (D) plan to address climate change.

“We are deeply committed to the Biden administration’s goal of achieving a 50-52% reduction of greenhouse gas pollution from 2005 levels by 2030.”

The goals set by the Biden administration are timely in nature, and the representatives plan to help the President meet his goal.

“In addition, we strongly support the Biden administration’s commitment to ensuring that ‘the 2030 emissions target will create millions of good-paying, middle class, union jobs’ and ‘advance environmental justice, and improve the health and security of communities across America.’”

Castro has been working with other lawmakers to push new legislation forward. The congressman recently shared the bipartisan advancement of the Partner with ASEAN Act.

“Today, with the help and support of my colleagues on both sides of the aisle, @HouseForeign advanced the PARTNER with ASEAN Act, my bill with @RepYoungKim to open new areas of cooperation with the Association of Southeast Asian Nations.” tweeted Rep. Castro.
