Arrington Mocks Connecticut Rep.'s Call for Use of “Female Dummies”

Texas Representative Jodey Arrington (R) mocks Connecticut representative’s call for use of “female dummies” to help protect female drivers.

“Everyone knows that crash-test dummy inequality is one of the biggest threats to our democracy,” tweeted Rep. Arrington.

The Texas lawmaker continued his statement by taking a shot at the heavily-criticized Secretary of Transportation Pete Buttigieg (D).

“Join Sec. Buttigieg and his Democrat colleagues as they save America - one dummy at a time,” said Rep. Arrington.

In her initial statement, Connecticut Representative Rosa DeLauro (D) explained her desire to use crash-test dummies resembling women in order “to fight the gender inequity among…crash victims.”

Rep. DeLauro’s claims are in reference to, and backed by, data that shows that women are more likely to die in a car crash than men.

According to a 2019 study done by researchers at the University of Virginia, women wearing seatbelts in the front seat were 73% more likely than males to have severe injuries in a frontal collision.

It is unclear if Rep. Arrington is aware of this statistic, or if he simply disagrees with the study’s findings.

Texan politicians have been facing swaths of political issues and controversies recently. Among those issues are the pressing calls for new gun legislation.

Texas Senator Roland Gutierrez (D) took aim at Texas Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick (R) for his style of leadership.

After the hearing for House Bill 2744, which proposes raising the minimum age to buy a gun from 18 to 21, Rep. Gutierrez stated, “FYI @DanPatrick, this is what real leadership looks like.”

The congressman was joined by several other lawmakers who he thanked for their support for the hearing and for the families affected by gun violence.

“Thank you Speaker @DadePhelan and Chairman @RyanGuillen for allowing this hearing to happen. BUT most of all thank you Rep. Tracy King. Thank you for giving these families the opportunity to tell their stories during their testimonies on #HB2744." 

The San Antonio-native concluded his statements with a matter-of-fact hashtag that stated his sentiments on the numerous acts of gun violence and the lack of preventive gun legislation.

"#EnoughIsEnough," tweeted Gutierrez.
