Senator Ted Cruz
Texas Senator Ted Cruz (R) has shared footage he took during a recent trip to the U.S. southern border. During his visit, Sen. Cruz issued comments regarding the ending of Title 42, which is expected to have negative results. In his remarks, Senator Cruz rebukes President Joe Biden's (D) handling of Title 42.
In the first video that Senator Cruz shared on Twitter, the Texas Republican was standing next to a barbed wire barrier running along the border. Cruz noted that there were "over 22,000 illegal immigrants right across the river," pointing toward Mexico.
Cruz then directed blame to President Biden, saying "this is your fault."
"The people who are killed crossing illegally, that is your fault," he argued, adding that "the women who are sexually abused crossing illegally, that is your fault. The children who are brutalized crossing illegally, that is your fault. The people who are dying of drug overdoses - over 100,000 las year - that is your fault."
Cruz has called on Biden to stop "hiding in the basement" and to address the problem that Republicans argue will incur now that Title 42 has ended.
"Come down here President Biden. Stop hiding in the basement, stop pretending this misery is not your fault, stop it. This is not humane, this is not compassionate. This is cruel," Cruz warned.
Earlier this week, the House GOP Instagram page also shared remarks from Texas Rep. Monica De La Cruz (R), who sounded the alarm on the looming immigration concerns at the conclusion of Title 42. In the excerpt, De La Cruz expressed that the U.S. has "50,000 illegal immigrants waiting to cross our border the moment Title 42 is lifted."
"The Biden Administration has failed the American people, he has failed our border patrol agents, he has failed our border communities, and he has failed America with his open border policy," she argued.
The Biden Administration has not released a statement regarding the end of Title 42.
