Cruz: Illegal Immigration 'Worst Crisis' U.S. Faces

Last week, Title 42 ended after a tense back and forth between Republicans and Democrats. Florida and Texas, two states facing illegal immigration concerns, have been at the forefront of the conversation. Shortly before the end of Title 42, Texas Senator Ted Cruz (R) visited the southern border to document what was going on. Cruz continues to call this the “worst crisis” he has ever seen.

During an interview with Newsmax, Cruz discussed his recent experience at the border, calling the currently battle with illegal immigration “absolutely horrific” and saying that “it is the worst our country has ever seen.”

“I was down on the border just last Thursday night. Thursday at midnight Title 42 expired. We’ve seen under Joe Biden the worst illegal immigration in the history of our nation. We’ve seen six and a half million cross illegally under Biden,” Cruz explained, calling it “deliberate.”

“It is a political objective that they want to achieve,” Cruz claimed.

Recounting his numerous visits to the border, Cruz argued that it has never been such a pressing concern as it is today, and he went on to detail what he saw on the eve of Title 42’s ending.

“When I was in Brownsville, just on the other side of the river in Matamoros, there were over 22,000 people camped on the Rio Grande, preparing to cross. They had bonfires going. They were playing music and celebrating the end of Title 42 because Title 42 was the last legal authority Biden was using to deport anybody,” he explained.

Cruz then said that the end of Title 42 would have disastrous results for the United States, painting a grim picture of what he believes this will entail.

“There are 170,000 illegal immigrants camped the entire length of the border, preparing to cross in the coming days, and the result are dead bodies; the result are women who are being violently sexually assaulted; the result are children who are being brutalized by human trafficking; and the result is over 100,000 Americans who died of drug overdoses in the past year” he described.
