Texas' Congressional Delegation Reacts to Trump Target Letter

Texas Representatives Ted Cruz (R) and Wesley Hunt (R) recently reacted to the news that former president Donald Trump (R) received a target letter from FBI agent Jack Smith.

According to Trump, target letters usually mean an arrest and indictment is on the way.

Rep. Cruz took umbrage with the hypothetical posed by the disbursement of the letter, claiming that it represents a misuse of political power.

“The continued politicization and weaponization of the Department of Justice has turned our institutions into enforcers for the Biden administration’s partisan priorities. It remains deeply harmful to the rule of law.”

Rep. Hunt tied Trump’s actions to the Biden Administration, stating that he pushed for peace despite the various rioters attacking the capital based on their own, and the former president’s, belief that the election was stolen.

“Biden's attack dog, Jack Smith is at it again. What part of this tweet is confusing? Never in American history have we seen the weaponization of the federal government like this to interfere in a Presidential election. President Trump will be the nominee.”

Rep. Hunt has consistently attempted to direct attention toward President Biden (D) and his administration.

In June, Trump was indicted on charges of mishandling classified documents. Earlier in the year, Rep. Hunt attempted to equate President Joe Biden’s (D) possession of around 20 documents to Trump’s possession of 325 classified documents.

“So allow me to remind those who may have forgotten that it was Joe Biden who was illegally in possession of numerous boxes of classified material he obtained both as a United States Senator, and as Vice President. Neither one of those offices afforded him the authority to declassify the material.”

As of now, the charges are not clear for the possibly impending indictment.
