Cruz Denounces Jayapal's 'Hate-Filled" Anti-Semitic Remark Against Israel

Texas Senator Ted Cruz (R) took time to speak with Texas Politics to respond to the bipartisan pushback on Washington Representative Pramila Jayapal’s (D) comments on Israel.

Recently, Rep. Jayapal made controversial statements alleging that Israel was a "racist state."

“As somebody who’s been in the streets and participated in a lot of demonstrations, I want you to know that we have been fighting to make it clear that Israel is a racist state, that the Palestinian people deserve self-determination and autonomy, that the dream of a two-state solution is slipping away from us, that it does not even feel possible,” said Rep. Jayapal.

Sen. Cruz categorized Rep. Jayapal’s statements as being hate-filled.

“I think it is a shame that there were members of the extreme left "Squad" of the House who made the decision to boycott the speech. I think their hatred of Israel and their rampant anti-Semitism among Democrats in Congress.”

Despite Rep. Jayapal’s comments, many Democrats disagreed with her position.

In a statement released by House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries, Democratic Whip Katherine Clark, Caucus Chair Pete Aguilar and Vice Chair Ted Lieu, they asserted their view that “Israel is not a racist state.”

Jewish-American Representatives Debbie Wasserman Schultz and Jared Moskowitz also denounced Jayapal's remarks about Israel.

Sen. Cruz found the statements made by the Democrats to be “significant,” as he agreed with their viewpoints.

“I was gratified to see Democrat leadership condemn the most recent anti-Semitic comments. And I was gratified…to see Democrats at least standing in solidarity with Israel. I am deeply concerned by the policies coming from the Biden administration that have manifested a consistent hostility to the state of Israel. And today’s speech was a significant bipartisan push back against the angry anti-Israel voices that keep rising up on the far Left.”

In other news, Texas Representative Chip Roy (R) explained the additions he and fellow Republican representatives made to the National Defense Authorization Act (NDAA).

In a tweet, Rep. Roy criticized Republicans for passing previous NDAA bills.

“Year after year, Republicans pass an NDAA that propagates the cultural rot at DOD,” said Rep. Roy.

“This year, @HouseGOP changed that narrative with huge conservative victories […] Rep. Roy passed these amendments to put the DoD back on track and hold them accountable to Americans they represent.”
