Sources Indicate Trump Will Skip Upcoming Republican Primary Debate

After a tumultuous few months, sources are indicating that former president Donald Trump (R) will not participate in the upcoming Republican Primary Debate.

On the night of the debate, Trump is expected to conduct an interview with ousted, former Fox News host Tucker Carlson. It is unclear what exactly would be discussed during the interview.

The former president has a troubled relationship with the cable network. After the 2020 election, Trump expressed his frustration with the network for calling certain states in favor of current President Joe Biden (D). Furthermore, after alleged crackdowns after the Dominion lawsuit, the network has been more hesitant to support his stolen election claims.

So far, the debaters include Florida Governor Ron DeSantis (R), South Carolina Governor (R) Nikki Haley, North Dakota Governor Doug Burgum (R), Vivek Ramaswamy (R) and South Carolina Senator Tim Scott (R).

Polls show that Trump leads the other candidates. However, right under him is a tight race in which various candidates are floundering, while others are still trying to find their footing.

Many voters have been waiting to see how the debate between the former president and current candidate Gov. DeSantis would go. However, it seems as if those voters will have to wait longer.

The news of Trump’s debate plans comes as he was indicted for the fourth time.

The former president and 18 allies have been indicted in Georgia for their alleged role in attempting to overturn the 2020 election.

His allies include former White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows, Trump administration Justice Department official Jeffrey Clark and Trump attorney and former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani.

The defendants have been accused of creating a “criminal racketeering” enterprise to overturn the results of the election in the state of Georgia.

Furthermore, the defendants in the case have been given until noon, August 25, to voluntarily surrender themselves.

As the cases heat up, it will be interesting to see how the former president will run his campaign. Many of his opponents have defended him but some have and, probably, will continue to use his indictments as criticisms against his candidacy.
