Gov. Abbott Lauds Texas’ Strong Job Growth

In a recent statement, Texas Governor Greg Abbott (R) lauded Texas’ strong job growth.

“Texas again outpaces the nation in annual jobs growth thanks to strong business investments and the best workforce in America,” said Gov. Abbott.

Recent July employment data showed Texas led the nation in jobs added over the last 12 months. The state has added 441,700 jobs from July 2022 to July 2023 and growing at an annual rate of 3.3%, above the growth rate for the nation as a whole of 2.2%.

Furthermore, the state reached record highs for total jobs and the size of the workforce, having the largest labor force ever in the state’s history at 15,078,400.

“As a result, more Texans are working than ever before. This unmatched economic momentum is proof that Texas is the Best State for Business, the best state for jobs, and the best state for opportunity. Business confidence in the productivity of our skilled and growing workforce and in the certainty of our state’s pro-growth economic policies is unrivaled,” said Gov. Abbott.

The Texas governor stated that Texas would embrace new members of the workforce, as he believes that they are beneficial to the state.

“That is why we welcome more new employers and jobs to Texas every day. Texas works when Texans work—that is the Texas of tomorrow we are building today.”

In other news, former president Donald Trump (R) and 18 allies have been indicted in Georgia for their alleged role in attempting to overturn the 2020 election.

His allies include former White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows, Trump administration Justice Department official Jeffrey Clark and Trump attorney and former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani.

The defendants have been accused of creating a “criminal racketeering” enterprise to overturn the results of the election in the state of Georgia.

Trump is currently facing four indictments while trying to run a presidential campaign in the process.

In a recent statement, the former president stated that he would not participate in the upcoming Republican Primary debate. Trump will instead host a separate event of his own.
