Jackson Lee Condemns Jordan’s Third Run for Speaker

Texas Representative Sheila Jackson Lee (D) took to social media to condemn Representative Jim Jordan’s (R-OH) tactics in trying to gain the amount of votes to win speakership.

Rep. Jordan has lost two votes in his bid to become Speaker of the House. At one point, it was reported that he would not run again, yet he is currently headed toward his third vote.

“Jim Jordan is seizing the power of the U.S. House of Representatives, against great opposition in his own Republican Conference. He is forcing a third vote on the speakership. This failure of the Republican Conference, now going on three weeks, is hurting the American people…”

As Ukraine continues to fight against Russian attacks on their land, and Israel defends itself against the terrorist group Hamas, the U.S. has been subject to disorder in Congress. Furthermore, several GOP politicians have decided not to vote for Rep. Jordan as Speaker of the House and have faced unnecessary danger.

“It is endangering lives from Ukraine to the Middle East and I am most concerned about the threats on the lives of my fellow Republican colleagues and the threats on the lives of the families of the Republican members who have decided not to vote for Jim Jordan. Enough is enough!”

The GOP has nominated various lawmakers for speaker, since former Speaker of the House Kevin McCarthy’s (R) ousting.

“No more failing speaker votes. No more threats against Republican members. No more threats against Republican members’ families…”

As she has stated in the past, Rep. Jackson Lee, once again, backed House Minority Speaker Hakeem Jeffries (D) for Speaker of the House.

“Let’s move to a bipartisan pathway to leadership with Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries and let’s open up the government on behalf of the American people.”
