Crenshaw Slams Pro-Hamas Sentiment in Universities

Shortly after Yale University announced an alleged pro-Hamas group, Texas Rep. Dan Crenshaw (R) has issued a response. The group hosted a pro-Hamas rally in downtown New Haven, which called on people “to celebrate the resistance’s success.”

As the war ensues between Israel and Hamas, lawmakers have become divided in terms of their support. Lawmakers like Crenshaw have voiced their unwavering support for Israel while lawmakers like Michigan Rep. Rashida Tlaib (D) have landed in hot water over their criticism of Israel.

In turn, an official student organization at Yale called Yalies 4 Palestine is now drawing criticism from Republican lawmakers over a pro-Hamas rally that it held.

Sharing an article on social media that details how university and college campuses are fostering “pro-terrorist positions,” Crenshaw shared some comments regarding the matter, calling it a new trend of antisemitism that “is borderline mental illness.”

“Yale had to try to outdo every other woke Ivy League school and start an openly pro-terrorist group that headlines pro-Hamas rallies,” Crenshaw wrote, adding that “you would hope that this insanity has only infected a few fringe groups, but it hasn’t.”

“This woke, pro-terrorist disease has worked its way into several campuses, with students in leadership spearheading the charge,” Crenshaw warned.

However, Crenshaw does point out that there is a silver lining in the issue, suggesting that “it’s the hope that this insanity will offer unity in the population that still has its brain, and knows we can’t afford to entertain dangerous ideals like these.”

Democrats have also been divided on the criticism to Israel.

Florida Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D) commented on Rep. Tlaib hosting a press conference condemning the attack on a Gaza hospital, which was attributed to Israel but did not in fact come from Israel.

In reference to Tlaib’s criticism of Israel, Wasserman Schultz warned that Tlaib was “fanning the flames” that will ultimately put people’s lives in danger.
