Crenshaw Fires at House GOP Members for Not Supporting Ukraine Aid

Texas Representative Dan Crenshaw (R) recently fired at House GOP members who refused to support Ukraine in their fight against Russia.

Ukraine has been fighting a Russian invasion since Feb. 2022. Throughout the war, the U.S. has expressed a level of support for Ukraine as they battle Vladimir Putin’s forces. However, recently U.S. support for Ukraine has dwindled.

Some GOP members have stated that they will not support Ukraine unless they get a deal done on border security. Their stance has halted progress on passing foreign aid to Ukraine and has drawn much criticism for the dangers it poses to Ukraine.

In response to a statement made by Representative Chip Roy (R-TX), Rep. Crenshaw mocked the position he and some others have taken on sending aid to the country.

“Someone explain to me how you’re going to get the votes,” said Rep. Roy in response to the idea that the Senate would pass the aid bill.

“We have a bunch of ‘Never Ukrainers’.”

“It’s easy. You just ask them if they want border security more than they want Russia to win,” retorted Rep. Crenshaw.

The Senate has had its own issues passing foreign aid. Earlier this month, they failed to pass a bill for Israel.

In an exclusive interview with Texas Politics, Texas Senator Ted Cruz (R) accused the Democrats of focusing on their political party instead of the issues at hand. Some of his statements were directed at New York Senator Chuck Schumer (D) who is Jewish.

Sen. Schumer has supported Israel as they fight against the terrorist organization Hamas and even attended a pro-Israel rally this week in Washington, but he did not express clear support for the House's bill.

“Democrats are hard partisans, and Schumer values having 87,000 new IRS agents to persecute his political enemies more than he cares about stepping up for Israel," said Sen. Cruz.
