Texas Representative Joaquin Castro (D) took time to question Trump’s former Homeland Security Chief, Chad Wolf, for his stance on immigration and family separation policies.
“I asked Trump's former Homeland Security chief if he would push for family separation again if Trump returned to power,” said Rep. Castro in a tweet.
“His response? ‘All options should be on the table.’”
The congressman continued, “Almost 1,000 children are still separated from their families. This is monstrous.”
“Mr. Wolf, you were one of the key architects of the Trump administration’s efforts to separate families at the border. Children as young as four months were mercilessly taken from their parents, with almost 1,000 children still not reunited with their families years later, even though the Biden administration set up a task force to reunite them,” claimed Rep. Castro in the video.
“What you did was unimaginable, inhumane and despicable.”
The Texas congressman then directed his final comment toward Wolf, asking him for a “yes or no” response.
“Would you advise this or a future administration to once again separate families, as the Trump administration did?” asked Rep. Castro.
“So, I stand by my statement that you, I think, quoted earlier, that all options should be on the table,” said Wolf.
Castro has consistently fought against legislation aimed at migrant workers that he deemed to be harmful. The Texas representative recently attacked Texas Governor Greg Abbott (R) for his immigration-focused program, “Operation Lone Star”.
In a tweet, Rep. Castro lambasted the border policy by questioning its authenticity and highlighting the danger it posed toward migrant workers.
“.@GovAbbott's Operation Lone Star is nothing but a deadly political stunt,” claimed Rep. Castro.
“From death traps in the Rio Grande to these dangerous high-speed pursuits, Operation Lone Star is turning border communities into war zones and putting Texas families in danger.”
