Israel-Hamas War Resumes

The Israeli-Hamas war has resumed as the countries have begun to exchange fire again. Israel has commenced its ground initiative into the southern region of Gaza.

On Oct. 7, 2023, the terrorist organization Hamas attacked Israel and took several captives. The Hamas attack resulted in at least 1,200 Israelis being killed. Israel has responded in a strong manner that has been highly criticized by some in the West. According to the Hamas-run health ministry located in Gaza, Israeli troops have killed over 15,500 people in Gaza.

A recent article by the Washington Post details newly unearthed information that shows evidence that the terrorist organization Hamas was planning a larger attack against Israel.

Israel and Hamas had previously reached a temporary truce in which they exchanged prisoners. Several Israeli and Palestinian captives have been released, yet none were men. It is believed that over 100 hostages remain in Gaza.

Among the captives include less than 10 Americans and 11 foreign nationals. Many of the released prisoners have highlighted the poor conditions they were held in. Some Israeli hostages have been reported dead.

While some have called for an extended truce, Israel and Hamas have resumed firing at one another after Hamas was accused of breaking the truce. Some are trying to reunite truce talks, but Israel is bent on eliminating and eradicating Hamas, regardless.

The U.S. has struggled to pass aid to Israel. The House GOP recently passed a $14.3 billion bill that was set to send aid to Israel, as it defends itself from the terrorist organization Hamas, but does not include aid to Ukraine, which is currently fighting a war against Russia. Moreover, it is believed that since the bill did not include money for Ukraine, it failed in the Senate. Either way, Congress has to find a way to send appropriate foreign help to its allies.
