Van Duyne Opposes Ceasefire Between Israel and Hamas

Tension continues to rise between Republicans and Democrats regarding the war between Israel and Hamas. While Democrats loudly voice that the Biden administration should call for a ceasefire, Texas Rep. Beth Van Duyne (R) says this is no time for the United States to call for that.

Earlier this month, Florida Senator Marco Rubio (R) was pressed by a member of Codepink to answer if he'd call for a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas. In response, Senator Rubio questioned if their exchange would be filmed. He then proceeded to say "I want them to destroy every element of Hamas they can get they're hands on."

Republicans have expressed the same when questioned about the war, and in an interview with Newsman, Rep. Van Duyne shares her thoughts on why there shouldn't be a ceasefire.

“We need to support Israel 100%. We need to make sure that they’ve got the resources necessary, and they’re not asking for a lot… that they have the resources necessary to be able to come in and destroy this enemy who’s chief function, who’s ultimately goal is to wipe Israel off the map," Rep. Van Duyne explained.

Rep. Van Duyne went on to explain that Hamas has "been very clear. They are using civilians to hide behind. They have been given every opportunity to allow innocent people to leave. They won’t do it because they’re hiding behind them."

"They are a terrorist in the worst way possible," she added, further commenting that "when Israel’s focus is to get rid of them, which will benefit the entire planet, we should be supporting them and not asking for a ceasefire."

Washington Rep. Pramila Jayapal (D) was recently questioned by CNN Anchor Dana Bash over the perception that Democrats have been silent regarding Hamas' use of rape during the war.
