Texas Governor Greg Abbott (R) attacked President Joe Biden (D) in a brief rant about the president’s energy policies.
“Biden’s war on American energy has left Americans with higher gas prices & increased dependence on foreign oil. Texas is the key to restoring U.S. energy dominance & lowering the price at the pump. I will ALWAYS fight federal overreach & protect our thriving energy industry,” tweeted the Texas politician.
The current Texas governor has attacked the president multiple times for his energy policies and his impact on the economy.
It’s worth noting that the president doesn't have the effect on gas prices that many think. Politicians don’t control gas prices, as they are dictated more by supply and demand. Furthermore, gas prices can change depending on the time of year.
The president has been criticized for his attempts to implement green infrastructure. Biden has tried to include money for the nation’s power grid as well as funding the transition to using more electric vehicles in his Administration’s legislation. The oddly named Inflation Reduction Act was heavily focused on environmentally friendly measures.
The Inflation Reduction Act spent large sums of money to address the climate. However, the bipartisan bill has addressed the need for affordable drugs and healthcare as well.
Earlier in the year, Texas Representative Vicente Gonzalez (D) celebrated the Inflation Reduction Act lowering the costs of prescription drugs. Rep. Gonzalez emphasized the financial toll purchasing medication can have on patients.
“South Texans have been living paycheck to paycheck to afford their medication while middle men get rich with inflated prescription drug costs. Democrats passed the #InflationReductionAct to finally make medicine affordable for our constituents.”
