Abbott Criticizes Biden and Touts Operation Lone Star

Texas Representative Greg Abbott (R) released a statement criticizing President Joe Biden's (D) border legislation and touting Operation Lone Star.

“On day one in office, President Biden reversed the successful border security policies put in place under President Trump.

Since then, Texas has stepped up to hold the line against illegal crossings, cartel gangs, and human smuggling.

Read more below.”

“Since the launch of Operation Lone Star, the multi-agency effort has led to over 489,500 illegal immigrant apprehensions and more than 37,500 criminal arrests, with more than 34,100 felony charges reported. In the fight against the fentanyl crisis, Texas law enforcement has seized over 450 million lethal doses of fentanyl during this border mission.”

The Abbott administration has bused over 60,000 migrants. As part of the program’s agenda, the migrants were predominately sent to cities deemed to be Democratic.

Busing has been heavily criticized for being ethically questionable and for its potentially fatal nature. Furthermore, Operation Lone Star has been a part of a high-speed chase that resulted in several deaths.

Texas Representative Joaquin Castro (D) recently attacked Gov. Abbott for his immigration-focused program, Operation Lone Star.

In a tweet, Rep. Castro lambasted the border policy by questioning its authenticity and highlighting the danger it posed toward migrant workers. The San Antonio congressman emphasized the political motives he believed were behind the high-speed chase.

“.@GovAbbott's Operation Lone Star is nothing but a deadly political stunt,” claimed Rep. Castro.

“From death traps in the Rio Grande to these dangerous high-speed pursuits, Operation Lone Star is turning border communities into war zones and putting Texas families in danger.”
