Texas Lawmakers Wish Americans 'Merry Christmas'

Texas lawmakers throughout the state took to social media to wish Americans a “Merry Christmas”.

Texas Governor Greg Abbott (R) sent a joint message with his wife, celebrating the special, Christ-centered holiday.

“Merry Christmas, Texas!

Cecilia and I hope the celebration of our Savior’s birth brings joy, peace, and comfort to you and your families today.”

Texas Representative Beth Van Duyne (R) tweeted out a verse from a prophet from the Old Testament which foretells of Christ’s birth.

“From my family to yours, I wish you a Merry Christmas! "For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace." Isaiah 9:6”

Texas Representative Vicente Gonzalez (D) sent a simple but warm message to South Texans.

“Wishing all in South Texas a wonderful day filled with joy and love! Merry Christmas!”

Similarly, Texas Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick (R) sent a short message, wishing Texans a “Merry Christmas.”

“Wishing you a blessed and Merry Christmas.”

Texas Representative Sheila Jackson Lee (D) was more specific in her Christmas celebration as she spoke to residents of Houston as well as the state.

“Wishing a #MerryChristmas to everyone celebrating in Houston, the state of Texas, across the United States, and around the world!”

Texas State Senator Roland Gutierrez (D) tweeted a picture of his family as he wished Texans a “Merry Christmas” and “Happy New Year”.

“May the gifts of peace, love and happiness be yours this holiday season. Wishing you a Merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year from our family to yours.”

Texas Representative Wesley Hunt (R) also wished a merry Christmas in a joint statement with his wife.

“On behalf of Emily and myself, we wish you all a Christmas filled with love, laughter, and cherished moments. May the holiday season bring you peace, warmth, and a renewed hope for the days to come.”
