Texas Representative Beth Van Duyne (R) shared a statement highlighting her support for the American Families and Workers Act, which includes the newly expanded Child Tax Credit, and its benefits.
“This week, I supported North Texas families and job creators by voting for The Tax Relief for American Families and Workers Act. This pro-growth legislation will fight inflation, cut regulations, and deliver tax relief to working families,” tweeted Rep. Van Duyne.
The House recently passed the American Families and Workers Act with widespread bipartisan support.
“This week, I joined my colleagues on both sides of the aisle to pass the Tax Relief for American Families and Workers Act. This bill will extend the Trump-era tax cuts that brought us record unemployment, higher wages and GDP growth a full percentage point higher than the previous 10 year average. Restoring these provisions will strengthen the U.S. economy, create American jobs, and help us better compete on the global stage,” said Van Duyne about the bill.
The congresswoman continued, “Additionally, this bill will maintain Trump-era safeguards to the Child Tax Credit to ensure it only goes to American citizens, making it one of the few tax credits to have strong requirements that block claims from illegal immigrants and non-citizens. I’m focused on pro-growth solutions that will help our North Texas families, workers and job creators, and am eager for this bill to be signed into law.”
Van Duyne recently sat down with Texas Politics to discuss border security issues as well as Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas's alleged lies to Congress.
“This is the number one issue right now facing the country, and I’d argue definitely facing Texas. So, there’s a number of bills we introduced,” said the Texas congresswoman. “Texas sold land to the Trump administration with the understanding that land was going to be used to build a wall. Well, if they’re not going to build a wall then give them their land back.”
Van Duyne questioned the Biden administration, who have inherited materials to build the wall, for not selling the materials to Texas.
“We’ve already purchased it. Let Texas build the wall," she said.
