Cruz Denounces President Biden's Apology of 'Illegal' Remark

President Joe Biden’s (D) state of the union address has drawn controversy for several reasons. One reason that the president has excused himself for is calling the man accused of murdering Laken Riley an illegal. Texas Senator Ted Cruz (R) has taken offense with the apology, arguing that President Biden's priority lies in being “politically correct.”

Illegal immigration continues to be a pressing concern for lawmakers in the country. Just this week, Texas Rep. Chip Roy (R) shared comments on social media, arguing that crime is down in Venezuela “because international gangs like Tren de Aragua are flocking to the United States.” In his estimation, “Haiti is next.”

During an appearance on Fox News, Senator Cruz commented on the role that illegal immigration will play in the upcoming election, saying that how President Donald Trump (R) and President Biden have responded to illegal immigration will be an important factor.

Senator Cruz argued that the day after the state of the union address, President Trump met with the family of Laken Riley, while President Biden apologized to the individual accused of murdering Laken Riley for calling him an illegal.

“That is this election. Between the two, Biden is on the side of the murderers and illegal aliens, and that’s who he’s apologizing to, but when it comes to American citizens, you heard his response at the state of the union: ‘well, yeah, she was killed by an illegal, but how many people were killed by illegals?’”

“What the hell does that mean?” the senator questioned.

Sharing the interview segment on social media, Senator Cruz further expressed that President Biden “would rather be politically correct than comfort an American family who just had their daughter killed.”

“This is where the Democrats’ priorities lie.”

The subject of illegal immigration has been cited in recent polls as a top priority for voters.
