Roy Calls for President Biden to be Arrested

President Joe Biden (D) is expected to make an announcement on Tuesday regarding the southern border. According to the White House, President Biden will sign an executive order that would shut down asylum requests to the U.S.-Mexico border once the number of daily encounters hits 2,500 between the ports of entry. Claiming that the president has endangered the lives of Americans, Texas Rep. Chip Roy (R) has called for President Biden to be arrested.

This Tuesday, the White House is scheduled to host an announcement from the president, and border mayors have been invited. President Biden is expected to share an executive order that would halt the number of migrants that are allowed to seek asylum in the United States.

According to his plan, the border would once again reopen once the number of migrants declines to 1,500 people.

So far, Brownsville Mayor John Cowen and Edinburg Mayor Ramiro Garza have shared that they have been invited to the event, but Rolando Salinas Jr., the Eagle Pass mayor, has not received an invitation.

On social media, Rep. Roy, who's been critical of the Biden Administration's handling of the border, responded to the planned announcement. Not only did he call for the arrest of the president, but he also called on the governors of the country to ban together and call on the arrest of Department of Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas.

"Why don’t southern Governors announce intent to arrest the President or Mayorkas on sight for violating the law & endangering our people? Has more merit than prosecuting Trump for an improved misdemeanor bootstrapped into an unnamed felony…"

The executive order would enable border patrol officials to turn back migrants who have illegally crossed the border. They would not have a chance at claiming asylum when border crossings have met the specific threshold of 2,500 migrants.
