Cruz Introduces Bipartisan COMMAND Act, Requiring Constitutional Training For Military Officers

Senators Ted Cruz (R-TX) and Tim Kaine (D-VA) have introduced a bipartisan bill known as the Constitutional Orientation Military Mandate Amplifying National Duty (COMMAND) Act, a bill requiring that U.S. military officers receive educational training on the Constitution once they are newly commissioned and sent to their first operational assignment.

The material that will be reinforced surrounding the Constitution includes “emphasis on the loyalty of officers to the Constitution and “instruction on certain aspects of the Constitution relevant to military service.”

The Texas senator said that this bill is “basic common sense” that military officers are required to know about one of America’s founding documents.

“Our military officers swear an oath to support and defend our Constitution,” said Sen. Cruz. “It is basic common sense to ensure that they are grounded in the Constitution’s history and text. I am proud to introduce the COMMAND Act with Sen. Kaine, which will ensure that officers receive that education before taking on their tremendous responsibilities, including and especially leading America’s finest young men and women in defense of our freedoms.”

Furthermore, Sen. Kaine added that this bill ensures that military members receive a “fuller understanding” of what their oaths entail.

“Our servicemembers take an oath to support and defend our Constitution, rather than any individual or administration,” said Sen. Kaine. “This legislation would provide our next generation of military leadership with a fuller understanding of what their oath entails and the sacred obligation they incur when they raise their right hand and affirm their commitment to our founding principles.”

Additionally, Sen. Cruz recently appeared on Fox News and predicted that border crossings will go down and gas prices will continue to remain lower than they’ve been during President Joe Biden’s (D) administration as the November election is just months away.

With President Biden’s executive order concerning the border expected to be signed on Tuesday, Republicans such as Sen. Cruz and Rep. Laurel Lee (R-FL) have blasted Biden for his inaction during his term in office.

“This immigration order that’s coming tomorrow, Joe Biden’s going to stand up and say, ‘We’re securing the border.’ And you know what? I’m going to predict in the next five months, we’re actually going to see the border numbers go down a little bit,” said Cruz.

He continued, “Now, don’t be deceived by that. It’s just like the gasoline prices going down a little bit. They’re doing this right before the election. They’re doing it so the useful idiots in the corporate media will say, ‘Gosh, Biden solved the problem. Nothing else to worry about here.’ It is entirely fake. And we had 11 million people invade this country because Joe Biden and the Democrats want 11 million people to invade this country.”
