Abbott Announces Reward for Information on Round Rock Shooting

Over the weekend, a deadly shooting struck Texas. During a Juneteenth Festival on Saturday night, there was a shooting that killed two and left 14 people injured. There are currently no arrests and no suspects regarding the shooting, and Texas Governor Greg Abbott (R) has announced a $10,000 reward for any information on the Round Rock shooting.

Festival attendees have since begun to question the safety protocols that were put in place for the festival. According to CBS News, the shooting occurred just before 11:00 P.M. on Saturday at Old Settlers Park in Round Rock, which is a city about 19 miles north of Austin, Texas. Allen Banks, the Round Rock Police Chief, explained that the shooting came about after an altercation between two groups during the event, and it occurred near a vendor area away from the stage.

In a statement, Governor Abbott expressed that he and his wife are "deeply saddened" by what happened, sharing that "Texas is offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to an arrest. He also shared that other rewards are being offered for any information regarding the shooting.

"Cecilia and I are deeply saddened by the horrific tragedy this past weekend that took the lives of two innocent Texans and injured fourteen other victims at a Juneteenth celebration in Round Rock," Governor Abbott said in a statement.

"Texas is deploying our full support to local law enforcement to ensure those involved in this heinous crime are found and brought to justice."

He went on to "encourage Texans with information relating to this crime to call the Texas Crime Stoppers hotline or submit an anonymous tip online. With your help, we will capture these criminals and put them behind bars."

The Williamson County Crime Stoppers is offering a reward of $5,000 and the Bureau of Alcohol, Firearms and Explosives is offering another $5,000, which brings the total amount to $20,000.
