Roy Calls for Vice President Harris to be Impeached Over Biden

Texas Rep. Chip Roy (R) continues to press the Biden-Harris Administration. After introducing a resolution to discharge President Joe Biden (D) of his duties and powers as well as calling on Vice President Kamala Harris (D) to invoke the 25th amendment, the Texas lawmaker is standing firm in his opposition. Rep. Roy has now called on Vice President Harris to be impeached, accusing her of lying about President Biden's cognitive state.

Leading up to the first presidential debate in June, President Biden's cognitive state was a growing topic of concern. Democrats and the White House had attempted to quell any concerns, but the president's performance during the debate has raised concerns over his future as well as his time in the White House.

On debate night, Vice President Harris was questioned about President Biden's performance. When pressed about his performance, the vice president defended the incumbent president, arguing that "what became very clear through the course of the night is that Joe Biden is fighting on behalf of the American people on substance, on policy, on performance. Joe Biden is extraordinarily strong."

Rep. Roy is now responding to the vice president after calling on her to invoke the 25th amendment against President Biden, but this time, he's calling on her to be impeached.

On social media, the Texas Republican announced that "Kamala Harris should be impeached for lying to America about the state of President Biden’s mental capacity to carry out the powers and duties of the office - and shirking her unique constitutional obligation to take the necessary steps to invoke the 25th Amendment."

The impeachment call comes at a time when Texas Rep. Lloyd Doggett (D) has emerged as the first Democrat to call on President Biden to step down from office. Rep. Doggett similarly made the announcement this week, warning that "President Biden saved our democracy by delivering us from Trump in 2020. He must not deliver us to Trump in 2024."
