Rubio Says Harris Campaign is Performing 'Con Job' with Media on the Border, the Economy

Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) spoke to Texas Politics regarding news surrounding the filibuster and the southern border as Vice President and presidential candidate Kamala Harris (D) has put herself in the spotlight on both accords.

First, VP Harris told Wisconsin Public Radio (WPR) she supports ending the filibuster to restore Roe v. Wade federally. Axios has reported that Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer (D-NY) is considering ending the filibuster rule if Democrats maintain their majority this election cycle. Senators Joe Manchin (D-WV) and Kyrsten Sinema (I-AZ) – who are both filibuster “defenders” – are retiring in January.

“Well, that’s what she supported when she was in the Senate, so it doesn’t surprise me,” Sen. Rubio stated. “It’s probably the only thing she hasn’t changed her mind on.”

He also believes the left side of the aisle will in fact change the filibuster rule if VP Harris is elected and the Democrats maintain their majority; not only to codify Roe v. Wade but eliminate it forever.

After being called on by President Joe Biden (D) to address the root causes of migration – a responsibility that levied the title “Border Czar” for a while – the Trump campaign has attempted to connect VP Harris to the border crisis that has lasted during the last three and a half years.

The Harris campaign recently announced a trip to the border. Sen. Rubio called this move “part of the con job” of her campaign.

“She was in charge of that border for three and a half years, and she didn’t care too much about it. In fact, they repeatedly told us that there was no problem, there was no crisis, that it was under control. So yeah, I guess the media’s not going to call her out on it.”

Moreover, Rubio told Texas Politics that this “con job” from the Harris campaign is not just pertaining to the border, but other issues like the economy as well.

“They’re trying the best they can to, again, the media is helping them do it. But I think in the end, there’s just millions of people that aren’t going to be conned by this. They’ve lived it for three and a half years,” said Rubio. “These guys told us the economy is doing great and that there’s no problem at the border, and now she’s acting like she hasn’t been around. The last four years, she’s been the second most powerful person in the Executive Branch.”

On a lighter note, the Florida senator shared that he is worried about the Dolphins’ quarterback situation with franchise player Tua Tagovailoa out for at least three more games on the injured reserve with the possibility of retirement (due to a history of concussions) looming.
