Trump Continues Hurricane Onslaught Against Harris as Floridians Wake up to Milton's Devastation

Former President Donald Trump is adding fuel to the fire of the controversy regarding Vice President Kamala Harris’ hurricane response as Hurricane Milton departs Florida.

Milton struck Florida’s west coast and traveled across the state throughout Thursday morning.

President Trump and Vice President Harris have clashed over the federal government’s hurricane response, with the former claiming the latter is not doing nearly enough and the latter rejecting such claims.

Most recently, Trump condemned Harris for touring different late night talk shows while Floridians were experiencing the beginning of Milton.

“Before Hurricane Helene, Kamala Harris was in San Franciso for a fundraiser. Before Hurricane Milton, she was drinking a beer on late-night television,” said Trump via press release. "Cheers she posts as Americans continue to reckon with Hurricane Helene’s devastation and millions face Hurricane Milton.”

Harris subsequently posted content from meetings with local and state officials impacted by Hurricane Helene.

“Federal, state, and local governments are working hand-in-hand to coordinate our approach to Hurricane Helene and ensure the impacted communities are getting the resources they need,” said Harris.

Previously, Trump and Harris clashed over FEMA’s lack of hurricane response funding.

Trump’s  team published an attack ad emphasizing the billions of dollars Harris’ administration has allegedly granted immigrants with the small help afforded to hurricane survivors.

Last week, FEMA officials announced funding shortages for hurricane recovery aid.

Subsequently, the Trump campaign published information revealing FEMA recently doubled its funding for non-governmental entities providing housing assistance to immigrants apprehended by the Department of Homeland Security.

FEMA upped its financing of such entities by around $300 million, from $363.8 in 2023 to $650 million in 2024.

Trump further attacked Harris by contrasting his response to hurricane Milton, which includes fundraisers and hosting hundreds of electricians ready to repair Milton’s damages at Trump locations.
