Cruz Says GOP is Obligated ‘to Deliver on Promises’

Come January 20th, 2025, Americans will have President Donald Trump (R) in the White House, a Republican controlled Senate, and a Republican controlled House. Half of the country is applauding the change while the other half is dreading it. With the electoral victory comes responsibility, and Texas Senator Ted Cruz (R) states that the GOP is obligated “to deliver on our promises.”

During an appearance on CBS News Texas, Senator Cruz assessed the results of the 2024 presidential election, sharing that Americans “are sending change to Washington.”

What will that change look like?

Every year, Americans are told that they’re voting in the most important election of their lifetime. Is this election any different? For the Texas senator this election was crucial because the incoming Trump Administration will “correct” the mistakes of the incumbent administration. This “correction” is also expected to yield positive results for the Lone Star state.

Outlining the “mandate for change,” Senator Cruz listed that securing the border is at the top of the list.

“Texans and people across the country are deeply dismayed with Joe Biden and the Democrats’ open borders,” Senator Cruz commented, noting that Republicans will quickly act to address the issue. “We’re gonna see the border secure, and I don’t believe it’s going to take a year or even six months. I think it’s going to happen in January and February of next year,” he added.

“We’re gonna see the numbers plummet because we’re gonna see on January 20th the return of a president who will enforce the law and will deport those who come in the country illegally.”

President Trump has generated some controversy with his hardline immigration views, and this was further exacerbated with his pick of Tom Homan for “Border Czar.” Homan has engaged in a back and forth with Democratic leadership in recent weeks regarding legal implications if they do not cooperate with the Trump Administration’s immigration policy.

“We’re gonna follow it up by having congress pass legislation providing funding to ensure that we secure the border and keep our communities safe,” Senator Cruz affirmed.

The “mandate for change” also includes things such as fixing the economy, controlling inflation, addressing spending, and “ending the Biden Administration’s war on energy and Texas oil and gas.”

The Texas Senator wants to see “Texas and America become energy dominant” under the Trump Administration.
