Texas Democrats Help Elect Burrows to Texas Speaker of the House

Yeah, the House Speaker's race is over, and Burrow's speakership is not sitting well with the President Trump/ Paxton/Patrick faction of the Republican Party of Texas.

One can only imagine how the 2025 legislative session is going to play out.

Perhaps Lt. Gov. Dan Patrick's response to the election will shed some light on what we can expect to come out of the legislature.

“Today, on the second ballot, Republican Dustin Burrows was elected Speaker of the Texas House with a majority of Democrats and a minority of Republican votes. Despite having a clear majority of Republican votes, Rep. David Cook, R-Mansfield, was defeated. Speaker Burrows was handed the speakership by Democrats, as has happened behind closed doors session after session since 2009.
