Texas Congresswoman Introduces Bill to Ensure Border Security are Paid

Congresswoman Monica De La Cruz (R) has reintroduced the Pay Our Border Patrol and Customs Agents Act, a crucial piece of legislation aimed border security, ensuring U.S. Border Patrol agents and Office of Field Operations officers are paid during any potential government shutdown in Fiscal Year 2025.

This legislation is co-sponsored by several members, including Reps. Juan Ciscomani (R), Dan Crenshaw (R), Nancy Mace (R), Claudia Tenney (R), Morgan Luttrell (R), and others.

In a statement, Congresswoman De La Cruz emphasized the importance of Border Patrol agents' work in securing the border and ensuring the safety of communities.

"Border Patrol Agents go above and beyond to ensure our communities are protected and our border is secure," said De La Cruz. "Under President Trump’s leadership, Border Patrol Agents can fully carry out their duties and, as a result, are reporting historically low numbers of illegal crossings. We cannot let politics jeopardize their hard-earned paycheck."

The legislation comes as the deadline for a Continuing Resolution to fund the government approaches, set for March 14, 2025. The Pay Our Border Patrol and Customs Agents Act would ensure that Border Patrol agents and officers continue to receive pay in the event of a funding lapse.

De La Cruz’s commitment to support Border Patrol agents and officers is part of a broader effort by Republican lawmakers to strengthen border security while ensuring that law enforcement agencies have the resources and support they need.
