Senator Cornyn Launches Re-Election Campaign

Texas Senator John Cornyn (R) has officially launched his re-election campaign. The Texas Senator is once again looking to represent the Lone State state alongside Senator Ted Cruz (R), but Republicans could prevent him from doing so.

As expected, Senator Cornyn announced that he was once again asking for the support of Texans, but Republicans aren't entirely happy with his time in office.

Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton (R) has been a vocal critic of Senator Cornyn's, and he's made it clear that in the upcoming 2026 midterm election, he has one goal in mind, which is to oust Senator Cornyn from the U.S. Senate.

In a September 2023 interview with Fox News, Attorney General Paxton argued that Senator Cornyn has been ineffective during his time in office. "I can't think of a single thing he's accomplished for our state or even for the country," the attorney general commented. "Somebody needs to step up and run against this guy."

Despite the pushback from Attorney General Paxton, Senator Cornyn believes that he has the track record to prove that he's been an effective U.S. Senator, and in his re-election announcement advertisement, he touts the support from President Donald Trump (R).

In the advertisement, President Trump, during a rally on February 11th, 2019, in El Paso, Texas, tells the audience, "we're especially grateful to your wonderful Senators John Cornyn and Ted Cruz."

"It's an honor to represent Texas in the U.S. Senate. In President Trump's first term, I was Republican whip, delivering the votes for his biggest wins," the Senator recounts in the ad. In launching his re-election campaign, the Texas senator says that the support of Texans is crucial, "so President Trump and I can pick up where we left off."

Should he be re-elected, he vows to support the America First agenda, warning that the country cannot afford to "go backwards."
