Governor Abbott and the National Guard Tackle Border Threats with K9 Units

Texas is taking further steps to secure its southern border, with Governor Greg Abbott announcing the collaboration between the Texas National Guard and U.S. Customs and Border Protection’s (CBP) K9 unit. This joint effort aims to enhance border security and address illegal immigration, drug trafficking, and other criminal activities.

Governor Abbott highlighted the significance of the partnership, stating, “With President Trump now in charge, Texas and the Trump Administration are teaming up to make America safe again.”

This collaboration brings together the Texas National Guard’s resources with CBP’s K9 units, known for their ability to detect drugs and explosives, to strengthen the state's defense against illegal activities at the border.

The push for stronger border security is also echoed by other Texas leaders. U.S. Senator John Cornyn voiced his support for the continued efforts under President Trump's leadership, while demeaning liberals.

“Under President Trump’s leadership, illegal border crossings have hit a 25-year low! But liberals are trying to reverse all our progress. Senator Cornyn is committed to standing with President Trump and delivering resources to our border to KEEP TEXAS SAFE,” said Cornyn.

Additionally, Lieutenant Governor Dan Patrick has emphasized the Texas Senate's focus on securing more resources for border security. “Texans expect us to pass more property tax relief and border security funding,” Patrick remarked, underlining the urgency of the issue for state lawmakers. He further added, “The Senate has already passed 205 bills, including 29 of my top 40 priority bills, over to the House.”

The collaboration between state and federal agencies, such as the Texas National Guard and CBP, marks a critical move toward ensuring greater safety at the border. Abbott’s continued focus on border security aims to reduce the flow of illegal immigration and protect Texans from criminal elements operating along the U.S.-Mexico border.

With leaders like Abbott, Cornyn, and Patrick pushing forward, Texas remains committed to addressing the challenges of border security, working alongside federal partners to make meaningful progress in safeguarding the state and the nation.
