Trump Admin Announces Economic Partnership With Ukraine

President Donald Trump’s administration has announced the establishment of a US-Ukraine Reconstruction Investment Fund, expanding the US and Ukraine’s economic partnerships.

The Treasury Department announced the fund's creation, laying the groundwork for future US-Ukraine economic cooperation, including potential natural resources, military, and energy transactions.

Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent thanked President Trump and claimed the fund’s creation reflected Trump’s commitment to afree, sovereign, and prosperous Ukraine.”

“Thanks to President Trump’s tireless efforts to secure a lasting peace, I am glad to announce the signing of today’s historic economic partnership agreement between the United States and Ukrainesaid Secretary Bessent.

Trump repeatedly promised during the campaign trail that he would end the Russia-Ukraine war were he elected president.

Once president, Trump ordered his administration to broker peace negotiations between Ukraine and Russia to ensure a total and lasting end to the war.

Since then, the US has sought to coax and pressure Ukraine and Russia into signing a ceasefire.

After Secretary of State Marco Rubio, National Security Adviser Mike Waltz, and their diplomatic teams became the first Americans to publicly meet with Russian officials since the Ukraine-Russia war, a partial ceasefire agreement was signed.

Ukraine also agreed to a total ceasefire.

Since then, however, progress has stalled as Russia drags its feet and refuses to make the necessary concessions for reaching a mutually agreeable peace treaty.

The Trump administration has responded by increasing the pressure on Russia to sign a ceasefire agreement.

Bessent claimed the US-Ukraine reconstruction fund’s implications - among them deepened US-Ukraine cooperation - further demonstrate to Russia the Trump administration’s commitment to Ukraine.

“This agreement signals clearly to Russia that the Trump Administration is committed to a peace process centered on a free, sovereign, and prosperous Ukraine over the long term, concluded Bessent.
