Representative August Pfluger (R-TX), representing one of the nation’s premier oil and gas producing districts, expressed cautious optimism about the future of President Trump’s energy agenda in an interview with Fox Business host Maria Bartiromo.
Asked whether the energy sector would see renewed focus in the second half of the year amid geopolitical challenges and major legislative efforts, Rep. Pfluger said the outcome hinges largely on the passage of the “One Big Beautiful Bill” currently before Congress.
“We have to get this done on time. We have to give confidence back to the investment environment, which you and I have talked about,” Rep. Pfluger said. “I mean, 65 to 85 is the range of pricing for oil that we need in order to continue to produce American oil.”
Highlighting the importance of domestic energy production, he added, “We don’t want Iranian oil. We don’t want Venezuelan oil.” Rep. Pfluger predicted that if the legislation clears the Senate largely intact, “the energy agenda is going to kick back into high gear,” spurring a resurgence in manufacturing and American jobs.
Pfluger took pride in the House’s passage of the bill, emphasizing the need for the Senate to approve a version “very similar to what we passed.” He framed the legislation as a critical factor in maintaining U.S. energy independence and economic growth.
As global supply concerns persist, particularly related to unstable regimes, Pfluger’s comments underscore GOP priorities in boosting domestic energy production and reducing reliance on foreign oil.
The “One Big Beautiful Bill” remains a key piece of legislation shaping energy, economic, and infrastructure policy, with its fate in the Senate expected to influence the trajectory of U.S. energy markets and jobs in the coming months.
