Allen West Issues Warning Over Threat of Zohran Mamdani

Dallas County Republican Party Chair Allen West (R) is sounding the alarm over what he calls a growing threat of “leftist infiltration” in Texas politics. Chair West warns that figures like New York politician Zohran Mamdani (D) may already have counterparts gaining support in Texas.

“The nation is still pondering the elevation of a non-descript 33-year-old local assemblyman,” Chair West wrote in an article, referring to the self-proclaimed democratic socialist. “But here is my note of caution: we have our own Texas-style Zohran Mamdani right here in the Lone Star State.”

The Republican chair points to several progressive Texas officials as evidence, including Harris County Judge Lina Hidalgo, who he argues is “being groomed for a bigger position” despite being “embroiled in quite a few scandals” and promoting universal basic income policies, which conservatives oppose.

He also named Rep. Greg Casar (D), who chairs the Congressional Progressive Caucus, as a significant ideological threat. “It was European communists who rebranded themselves as ‘progressives’… their economic policies are aligned with socialism, their societal policies align with communism,” Chair West wrote.

Turning to Dallas County, Chair West criticized Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D), calling her “our very own little Black Evita Peron.” He highlighted her failed bid to become ranking member on the House Oversight Committee as a sign of internal resistance even among Democrats.

He further expressed concern over Texas State Rep. Salman Bhojani (D), alleging that his resolutions raise red flags. Chair West cited a Middle East Forum report that claimed $13 million in grants went to Islamist organizations, which he says came through the Governor’s office.

Chair West’s warning comes ahead of pivotal 2026 elections in Dallas County, which include races for County Judge and District Attorney.

“We need complete and utmost confidence in our elections systems,” he urged. “We run a dangerous risk… of algorithmic manipulations.”

As Assemblyman Mamdani grows in popularity in New York, Chair West calls on Texans to stay vigilant or risk turning the state blue.
