The US State Department is reportedly planning to revoke British band Bob Vylan’s US visas due to their recent antisemitic comments.
Vylan, a London-based duo mixing punk rock and hip-hop, recently stirred controversy for chanting antisemitic slogans during their latest performance at the Glastonbury music festival.
“Death, death to the IDF,” chanted the duo during their performance in front of thousands of concertgoers.
Israel government officials and allies sternly rebuked Vylan’s comments and requested accountability from the British authorities who permitted them to be live-streamed.
In response to Vylan’s statements, Israel’s official X account released footage recorded by Hamas terrorists during the October 7th massacre to remind Vylan and their followers of “what (they) are supporting.”
“For those at the Glastonbury festival who need a reality check, let this footage serve as a reminder to what you are supporting,” reads a statement adjacent to the footage.
In the US, reports claim that the State Department is “already looking at revocation” of Vylan’s visas.
Such revocation would prevent Vylan from completing its scheduled US tour, which includes dozens of major cities such as Boston, New York, and Washington DC.
The State Department is reshaping US visa processing.
Recently, State Secretary Marco Rubio enacted policies to revoke the visas of individuals found to be undermining the US’s national interests.
Many visa revocation efforts have focused on the visas of foreign students supporting terror groups.
In late March, Secretary Rubio confirmed he had revoked the visas of hundreds of students participating in antisemitic riots across American University campuses.
Rubio promised to continue revoking visas until “we’ve gotten rid of all” terrorist sympathizers.
However, visa restrictions for foreign students did not stop at terrorist sympathizers.
Recently, Rubio also announced that he will expel or revoke the visas of Chinese students studying at U.S. colleges and universities.
