Attorney General Ken Paxton: "Very sad to learn today of the passing of my dear friend Jodie Laubenberg. Jodie and I were the best of friends. There will never be another Jodie. Texas as blessed to have her service. Praying today for all of the Laubenberg family."

Rep. Jasmine Crockett: "Trump and Republicans attack unions because they know organized workers are powerful. But let's be clear: workers built this country -- not billionaires. On #LaborDay, I stand with every worker demanding fair pay, safe conditions, and respect on the job. The fight for dignity is far from over."

Texas Democrats: "You didn't get the weekend, 8-hour day, or child labor bans because corporations were generous -- unions fought for them. The working and middle class thrive when unions are strong. That's why the rich fight unionizing. America is strongest when labor is strong."

Governor Greg Abbott: "This session will be remembered as one of the most consequential in Texas history. We made bold promises for the future of Texas. Today, many of these promises go into effect. Together, we will keep Texas safe, free, and more prosperous."
