Pfluger Celebrates 'Historic' Tax Cuts For Texans

In an op-ed for GoSanAngelo, Rep. August Pfluger (R) celebrated the passage of the One Big Beautiful Act, calling it a “massive win” because tax cuts are coming for Texans.

The Texas Republican detailed that the One Big Beautiful Act will deliver “the largest Working Families Tax Cut package in American history.”

“I am of the camp that Americans deserve lower taxes and less government in their lives,” Rep. Pfluger expressed. “At the heart of the Working Families Tax Cut are critical tax reforms that deliver on that belief.”

The bill, which was signed earlier this year, makes the 2017 Trump tax cuts permanent.

He warned that without the extension, “over 475,000 taxpayers in Texas’ 11th Congressional District would have faced a devastating 26% tax increase – the largest in American history.”

Other provisions affect seniors, families, and hourly workers.

For example, the bill eliminates taxes on Social Security benefits, exempts overtime pay and tips from taxation, and expands the Child Tax Credit to $2,200 per child.

As well, the bill bolsters the Adoption Tax Credit by making up to $5,000 refundable and creates “Trump Savings Accounts,” which allows families or employers to contribute up to $5,000 annually toward future education, life investments, and even homeownership.

The package also includes measures that support school choice, rural communities, and small businesses. There is a higher death tax exemption that protects family farms, and there’s a permanent 20% small business deduction and expanded tax breaks for research and equipment that encourage investment and job creation.

In the op-ed, the Texas Republican also highlighted energy provisions, including the repeal of $500 billion in the Biden Administration’s “Green New Scam” subsidies and the elimination of the natural gas tax.

The One Big Beautiful Act did not come without criticism, however, but Rep. Pfluger believes that it’s just “misinformation,” and constituents must “separate fact from fiction.”

“Nothing is perfect, but this legislation delivers historic, tangible wins for Texans,” he assured.
