After Attorney General Ken Paxton (R) announced that he had uncovered evidence showing that the East Plano Islamic Center (EPIC) had violated both federal and state securities laws, conservative commentator Laura Loomer warned about Jihadists and Sharia Law in the Lone Star state. Questioning Rep. Wesley Hunt (R) over his stance on Islam, the Texas Congressman and senatorial hopeful affirmed that Sharia Law is “incompatible” with America.
The exchange began with Loomer sharing a video of Senator John Cornyn (R) responding to questions about his senatorial race.
The conservative commentator called on Rep. Hunt to share his thoughts on Islam, warning that “Jihadists continue to takeover Texas with Sharia Compounds and Sharia enforcement.”
In response, Rep. Hunt commented that Sharia Law is “completely incompatible with the founding principles of the United States of America.”
Rep. Hunt, who is a combat veteran who served in the Middle East, grounded his stance in personal experience, sharing, "I’ve been shot at by radical Islamic terrorists, and… engaged that enemy in the crucible of warfare.”
“When they chant ‘Death to America,’ they mean it. I’ve buried classmates and friends who paid the ultimate price because they meant it,” he added.
Rep. Hunt contrasted his own record with that of Senator Cornyn, claiming that the incumbent senator has been “soft on this because he’s never faced what I’ve seen. He’s never stood face-to-face with evil in its purest form.”
Citing his experiences witnessing “public beheadings, the brutal treatment of women, [and] the barbaric enforcement of Sharia Law,” Rep. Hunt emphasized his conviction that such practices are irreconcilable with American values.
“Sharia Law should be banned in America,” he proposed, adding that “any ideology or belief system that stands against our Constitution, our freedoms, or the God-given equality of men and women has no place in Texas, or anywhere in this country.”
