John Cornyn Adds 30 Texas GOP Endorsements in Re-Election Bid

Texas Republicans are falling in line behind Senator John Cornyn (R) as thirty current and past GOP elected officials have just endorsed his re-election bid.

On March 3rd, 2026, Texas voters will head to the polls to vote on the respective primary senate races.

Rep. Wesley Hunt (R) and Attorney General Ken Paxton (R) are vying to unseat Senator Cornyn, making it clear that the incumbent senator has overstayed his welcome in the senate. Across the aisle, state Rep. James Talarico (D) and former Rep. Colin Allred (D) are vying for the opportunity to unseat Senator Cornyn, and a possible entry from Rep. Jasmine Crockett (D) looms over the Democratic primary.

Among the thirty Republicans from the Dallas-Fort Worth area who have endorsed Senator Cornyn is Rep. Jake Ellzey (R), who praised the incumbent senator for standing with veterans and military families.

“His commitment to our military families has made a lasting impact on those who’ve served,” Rep. Ellzey said in a statement. “I’m proud to endorse Senator Cornyn for re-election because he’s a proven leader who gets things done for Texas.”

In response to the endorsements, Senator Cornyn expressed gratitude for “the steadfast support of strong conservatives in the Dallas-Fort Worth area.” “Keeping taxes low, advancing the CHIPS Act to strengthen our economy and national security, securing our border, and keeping our streets safe have been my top priorities in Washington so that our communities can thrive,” he added.

Both Senator Cornyn and Attorney General Paxton have faced controversies during their primary bid, and Rep. Hunt, despite entering the race late, is looking to bypass his challengers to win the nomination and unseat Senator Cornyn.

President Donald Trump (R), who has shared his endorsements for several national races, has remained quiet when it comes to the Texas Senate race, raising questions regarding the impact of the endorsement, if any.
