John Cornyn Praises Trump, Warns Adversaries after Maduro Capture

U.S. Senator John Cornyn (R) praised President Trump's leadership during remarks on the Senate floor following Operation Absolute Resolve, which resulted in the capture of Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro.

Sen. Cornyn highlighted how the operation demonstrated the unmatched capabilities of the U.S. military working alongside intelligence and law enforcement agencies.

"What we saw demonstrated by the U.S. military...was nothing short of magnificent," said Sen. Cornyn.

He described Maduro as a corrupt and illegitimate leader who posed a threat to U.S. national security and facilitated drug trafficking into the United States. Cornyn stated that removing Maduro from power would save lives and disrupt international criminal networks.

In referencing his role as chair of the Senate Caucus on International Narcotics Control, Cornyn highlighted Venezuela's position in what witnesses described as an "Axis of Evasion" alongside Russia, China, Iran, and North Korea.

"President Trump has now begun to turn the tide," said Cornyn, crediting the administration for decisive action.

Cornyn also criticized protesters outside the Manhattan courthouse who called for Maduro's release, linking their presence to broader political trends. He argues the operation sent a clear message to both allies and adversaries.

"The message of Operation Absolute Resolve to our allies and adversaries around the world could not be more clear- America is Back," said Cornyn, warning that those who threaten Americans through drugs and terrorism or military aggression with face consequences.

Cornyn concluded by expressing gratitude to U.S. service members and emphasizing that American resolve would not waver in confronting hostile regimes.
