Pam Bondi Clashes With Democrats in Heated Epstein Files Hearing

Attorney General Pam Bondi testified on Capitol Hill this week, where she was questioned about the Department of Justice's (DOJ) handling of the Jeffrey Epstein files.

The hearing before the House Judiciary Committee, which comes a year into her role as head of the DOJ, devolved into Bondi lashing out at judges and Democratic lawmakers as they questioned her performance within the department. Bondi accused Democrats of “theatrics” and affirmed that she would not “get in the gutter with these people.”

During the hearing, Bondi praised President Trump's time in office, calling him "the greatest president in American history” and accusing “liberal activist judges” of participating in “coordinated judicial opposition” against the Trump administration.

Since assuming the role of U.S. Attorney General, Bondi has overseen the release of career solicitors and FBI officials who worked on cases related to the Jan. 6, 2021, attack on the Capitol, the dismissal of prosecutions against President Trump’s allies, and the prosecutions and probes of the president’s political adversaries.

Additionally, the DOJ has eliminated its public corruption division, seen the departure of career prosecutors within the Civil Rights Division, which safeguards Americans' constitutional rights, and experienced resignations of attorneys in some U.S. Attorney’s Offices.

“Weaponization has ended,” Bondi expressed during the hearing, after telling the committee's chairman, Rep. Jim Jordan (R. Ohio), that she had received his criminal referral requesting that Trump critic John Brennan be prosecuted.

Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA), who is a prominent critic of President Trump, and who has received several death threats, questioned Bondi over why the DOJ hadn’t brought charges against any individuals who threatened him and his family.

"None of you should be threatened, ever," Bondi replied, addressing the present officials. "None of your children should be threatened. None of your families should be threatened."
