Trump Says He Will Soon Decide If US Should Strike Iran

President Donald Trump warned this week that he’ll decide whether the U.S. commences military action with Iran within the next 10 days, saying that “bad things will happen” if a “meaningful deal” is not achieved.

During the Board of Peace event in Washington, President Trump shared that negotiations with Iranian representatives are ongoing, describing them as constructive, while also affirming that historically, progress had been difficult.

“Good talks are being had. It’s proven to be, over the years, not easy to make a meaningful deal with Iran. We have to make a meaningful deal, otherwise, bad things happen, but we have to make a meaningful deal,” President Trump said.

He praised presidential envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner for their diplomatic efforts leading the talks with Tehran.

Commenting on the work so far, he called Witkoff and Kushner "good people." “They’ve had some very good meetings. They’ve had some very interesting meetings having to do with, as you know, Iran is a hotspot right now, and they’re meeting, and they have a good relationship with the representatives of Iran,” President Trump shared. “So now we may have to take a step further or may not. Maybe we’re going to make a deal. You’re going to be finding out over the next, probably, 10 days.”

President Trump convened the inaugural meeting of the Board of Peace at the Donald J Trump Institute of Peace in Washington, D.C.

"What we’re doing is very simple – peace. It’s an easy word to say but a hard word to produce. But we are going to produce it, we’ve been doing a really good job and some of these leaders who are with me have helped me a lot during the first year, which we have had like no other… we’ve had a great relationship… and I appreciate you being here,” President Trump said, addressing the many leaders in attendance.
