August Pfluger Secures Over $20 Million in Funding for West Texas

Congressman August Pfluger (R) has secured more than $20 million in federal Community Funding Projects aimed at supporting infrastructure, public safety, and healthcare initiatives across West Texas.

Rep. Pfluger argued that Texas communities deserve their share of federal investment, noting that the district contributes to national food security, energy production, and public safety. The projects funded under the Community Project framework target improvements ranging from transportation infrastructure to rural healthcare and law enforcement modernization.

Among the largest allocations was a total of $4 million, which will fully fund improvements to the Five Points intersection in southern Ector County, addressing longstanding traffic and safety concerns.

Another $700,000 will support technology upgrades and vehicle improvements for the Ector County Sheriff's Office, enhancing law enforcement capabilities.

Additional investments include more than $7 million for San Angelo and Tom Green County projects, a $1 million grant to construct a bridge over the South Concho River to improve safety during severe weather, and nearly $1 million for a high-performance research computing laboratory at Texas A&M University.

Healthcare improvements in rural areas also received funding, including a $2.4 million project to upgrade facilities at Frontera Healthcare Network.

Local officials and community leaders praised the investments.

San Angelo Police Chief Travis Griff highlighted the importance of modernizing emergency communications systems to improve public safety.

"We are incredibly grateful to Congressman Pfluger for securing this critical funding for the San Angelo Police Department/Public Safety Communications Technology Upgrade Program," said Griff. "These resources will allow us to modernize our 911 dispatch and record systems, ensure CJIS compliance, and continue providing reliable, secure service to the citizens of San Angelo."

Texas A&M Chancellor Glenn Hegar emphasized the role of research infrastructure in advancing national security and workforce development.

"I've had the good fortune of witnessing firsthand the incredible partnership between A&M-Central Texas, Fort Hood, and Congressman Pfluger, and it is something special," Hegar said.

Community Project Funding requests are submitted through the House Appropriations Committee and undergo eligibility and impact reviews. The West Texas Funding highlights Pflugers' continued focus on securing resources for regional infrastructure and economic development.
